David Goldfarb is the managing partner of the law firm of Goldfarb Abrandt & Salzman LLP. The firm of Goldfarb Abrandt & Salzman LLP Concentrates in health law, elder law, trusts and estates, and the rights of the elderly and disabled. David has written and spoken extensively on elder law, Medicare, Medicaid, and the use of trusts in health care planning. He was the co-author of the legal treatise New York Elder Law (Lexis-Matthew Bender, 1999-2019). David maintains the firm's website www.SeniorLaw.com.
David was formerly an attorney and supervisor for the Civil Division of the Legal Aid Society in New York City.
He has been listed in New York Super Lawyers since 2008. He has been included in The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Elder Law since 2010 and named Best Lawyers’ 2014 and 2018 New York City Elder Law “Lawyer of the Year.” He has achieved the highest rating (AV) in Martindale-Hubbell. David was given the Elder Law Attorney of the Year award in 2011 by the Evelyn Frank Legal Resource Program.
David is also active in the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is a former Chair of the Elder Law and Special Need Section of the New York State Bar Association. He has written extensively on civic and legal issues including two op-eds in the New York Times. He was featured on August 22nd, 2003, in a “Public Lives” column in the New York Times.

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the new legislation on December 15, 2020 which makes comprehensive changes to the power of attorney statute. The amendments are intended to modernize and simplify the form and prevent error and abuse. Major revisions include: changes to the execution requirements; the gift rider has been eliminated; damages are now available for unreasonable refusal to honor the form; and much more.
