Description

The panel will deal with how to protect the child with special needs in the divorce process.  The first speaker will deal with Autistic children and what the attorney should know in a case where there are children with a diagnosis of Autism or other similar diagnoses. The second part will focus on the role of the Attorney for the Child when does and how does an attorney for the child decide whether to be an advocate for the child or if the attorney needs to substitute the attorney’s judgment for the child’s wishes.  The third part will be an update in case law on the Best Interest of the Child(ren).  The presenters will interact and discuss how to draft, or what issues need to be resolved, in an agreement to reflect the special needs of the child.
